Illegal criminal aliens who were
previously incarcerated at the Middlesex County Jail in New Jersey
were swept up off the streets in a five day operation by
Newark FieldOffice ICE/ERO agents. The operation was necessary because Middlesex
County has declared claim as a 'sanctuary county' and releases
criminal aliens without honoring the request of an ICE detainer or
notifying ICE of their release. Their actions endangered the
community as the 16 criminal illegal aliens allowed back on the
streets not only had prior criminal convictions but many of them
still have pending criminal charges.
The 16 criminal illegal aliens that
re-arrested as part of the operation were nationals of Brazil,
Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras,
India, Ivory Coast, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, and Turkey. And their
crimes included: aggravated criminal sexual contact, aggravated
assault, DUI, hindering apprehension, endangering, abuse and neglect
of a child, battery, theft, burglary, possession of a weapon,
forgery, domestic violence assault, disorderly conduct, and illegal
entry.
