Wasted money

From Washington the Federal Election Commission stated that during the first six months of 2011, party committees that filed disclosure reports with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) raised a combined $242 million.  National party committees reported the receipt of over $95 million, representing an increase in fundraising by 14.4 percent and 26.5 percent over 2009 and 2007 totals, respectively, between January 1 and June 30.  Senatorial party committees raised $45 million, representing an increase in receipts by 2.4 percent over 2009 totals for the same period but a 4.5 percent decrease in receipts when compared to the same period in 2007.  Party committees supporting candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives reported combined receipts of $67.2 million, a 38.8 percent and a 2 percent increase over 2009 and 2007 six-month totals, respectively.

Would it not be nice if all that money went to help pay off our national debt instead of going to politicians that do not keep promises.

Daley's comments on spending federal economic stimulus funds, should they pass bill.

"Yes, we do, we have our list, we've been talking to people. We did not put that out publicly because once you start putting it out publicly, you know, the newspapers, the media is going to be ripping it apart," Daley said.

Daley said Chicago won't make its list public. This is taxpayers money; we have a right to know where, how, when and by whom this money will be spent. What people have you talked to? Where is the outrage?

Sanction cities, states and counties should not get any federal money; they do not enforce federal laws. Why should we as taxpayers pay for their disregard for federal laws?

Trillion Dollar Debt

DATE: 02/06/2009 16:45:42

$1.175 trillion cost of stimulus now. That does not include the nearly $50 billion added in Senate. Any Republician voting yes on this; with some running in 2010, a yes vote will hurt you.

60% of bill does not go into effect for 2 or 3 years. our future debt will be in the trillions. You can't fix a problem with another problem.

GOP Economic Plan

DATE: 02/05/2009 17:45:18

GOP economic recovery plan:

Reduces the 15% tax rate to 10%, and the 10% tax rate to 5%.

Allows small businesses to take a tax deduction equal to 20 percent of their income.

Makes unemployment benefits tax free.

Creates a home-buyers credit of $7,500 for those buyers who make a minimum down-payment of five percent.

Provides a new deduction for Americans who purchase health insurance on their own.

Stimulus What?

DATE: 02/02/2009 12:44:26

The price tag of the stimulus now swelled to $1.1 trillion, which means it will cost each American family over $10,000 a year!

With things in the bill that goes to pet projects like:

· $400,000,000.00 for researching sexually transmitted diseases

· $200,000,000.00 to force the military to buy environmentally-friendly electric cars

· $34,000,000.00 million to renovate the Department of Commerce headquarters

· $75,000,000.00 million for a program to end smoking which, if successful will bankrupt the State Children's Health Program Democrats are about to pass (SCHIP) that is paid for by cigarette taxes

· $650,000,000.00 million for digital TV coupons

· $50,000,000.00 million for the National Endowment for the Arts

Who was'nt thinking?

DATE: 02/02/2009 10:38:18

Today I listened to Sen. McCaskill state that those who took taxpayer money in the first stimulus should not make more then the president. Should this not have been thought of before the first stimulus was passed?

Today we have more people out of work, becoming homeless and going without eating right; and this stimulus package is full of pork and spending. Are they really thinking of helping the people or just themselves?
